Here are some hyperlinks for web sites from which we can get real data for analysis in this course.  Please remember that data is meaningless without its context (the who, what where, when, why, and how for the data, i.e., all information pertaining to how the data was collected, by whom the data was collected, why the data was collected, etc.).  So, you must make sure that you know the context for the data as well as understand and can identify the cases/records and the variables; for quantitative variables, we must know the units (of measure) as well.

Hyperlinks for the web sites given below are provided for your convenience.  We will not limit our sources of data to these web sites.  It is recommended that you search for additional web sites.

Top of Page

As a member of the ONLINE section for MATH 117, I challenge you to find interesting, unusual sources of data.  If you can find a web site that is not connected to the web sites stated above or those posted on the Other Links page of this site in any way and if this site contains interesting real data, then you may submit the name of the site, the URL, and an explanation of why this site should be posted on this course page to the instructor.  A student whose submitted site is posted on this page will be credited with the site listing as the one who provided the site information and (s)he may receive extra credit.  So, let the data search begin!

CAUTION:  For the site to be considered for posting, the data must be real and the site must be accessible directly using the submitted hyperlink.

Please remember that your questions are important to me, that I want to help you to do well in the course, and that there is no such thing as a stupid question.
