You may find the following web sites to be helpful as you study and to explore some of the topics and applications that we examine throughout the course.

  • You may find it helpful to access the Armstrong Atlantic State University Mathematics Department College Algebra Tutorial.  Using these exercises you can test yourself as you study for quizzes and exams.

  • If you want to check your graphs of functions or compare graphs of functions, ...

    •  you can use Russell Schwager's Grapher.  Using this applet, you can graph up to four functions in the same graph window.   The applet works in a similar manner to graphing calculators that you may have used in the past.

    • Coolmath.com has a graphing calculator applet as well.

  • Percentages:  We have used percentages in our mixture problems.  As discussed, percentages are related to fractions -- do you know how?   Well, since we use fractions and percentages all the time, we need to make sure that we truly understand what a percentage is and how to use it.

So let us answer the questions,
What is a percentage?"

and
"How do we calculate using percentages?"

Please visit each of the websites for which hyperlinks are provided below.  Carefully read the information and do all of the associated problems.

As a member of Sections 006 for MATH 095, I challenge you to find interesting resources for folks learning/reviewing elementary and intermediate algebra.  If you can find a web site that is not connected to the web sites stated above, at the left or those posted on the Other Links page of this site in any way and if this site contains interesting helpful resources, then you may submit the name of the site, the URL, and an explanation of why this site should be posted on this course page to the instructor.  A student whose submitted site is posted on this page will be credited with the site listing as the one who provided the site information and (s)he may receive extra credit.  So, let the resource search begin!

Please remember that your questions are important to me, that I want to help you to do well in the course, and that there is no such thing as a stupid question.
